1. Outline a business plan

Not sure if you have a viable idea for a business? Need to map out your strategy? Get ahead of the game and plan your business.

2. Meet State Requirements

  • Decide on your business structure and register your business name.
  • Identify license requirements.
  • Prepare to pay your tax obligations. Register with the N.C. Department of Revenue if needed.
  • Fulfill employer responsibilities and meet employer reporting requirements

3. Learn about available resources

Meet your Business Resource Specialists and Business Advocate, and find resources for entrepreneurs (including minority or women-owned businesses). Also, NC.gov has information about financial resources, N.C.’s thriving business sectors, and government contracting.
